America 250, Jasper County Scavenger Hunt is Now Open!
Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday with a
Photo Scavenger Hunt by the
Jasper County Historical Society!
Free to enter! Use the 10 clues provided to find 10 historic sites all over Jasper County. Take a drive to each location, and photograph yourself at the sites. Upload your pictures to our or yogile album or print them out and send them in the mail. Entries containing all 10 correct locations will be entered to win the Grand Prize. All entries will receive a free gift. One entry per household. All ages welcome. Full rules and upload instructions below!

Once a school but now just a monument out in the country. It keeps ‘Hanging’ around. Take your picture in front of the monument.
A minister built this church by hand with rocks. This is a Wheatfield landmark. Take your picture in front of the church.
This brick house in DeMotte is over 100 years old. Located near the library, it has three artists in residence who provide creative programs for the community. There is a mural on the garage. Take your picture in front of the house or the mural.
This Museum has a big caboose. It was once a Depot. Inside they tell the history of DeMotte and Jasper County. Take your picture in front of the depot or the caboose.
Fountain Park Chautauqua hosts entertainment and educational programs every July for two weeks. Take your picture with the Front Gate.
Remington has a tall structure that is so famous they have named their Town festival after it. Take your picture in front of the structure.
The Hall Log Cabin is located in a “Fair” place. Take your picture in front of it.
The town of Rensselaer is named after James Van Rensselaer. He is buried in town, find his grave, take your picture with the gravestone.
This Building is where the County Government does business. It’s easy to find, it’s on a square. Take your picture in the front or by the big bell.
Rensselaer’s own Civil War General has a statue in a park named for him. Take your picture with him.
Using the clues provided, locate the building/monument and take your picture in front of it. If special accommodations are needed, a quiz entry form may be completed at the Jasper County Museum during open hours.
Participants are responsible for their own safety and transportation. Do not enter restricted areas or place yourself in unsafe conditions. Photos must be taken from publicly accessible areas only.

Both the monument and contestant must be clear in photos but have fun and be creative!
The 10 photos can be submitted to “www.yogile.com/jasper250” or they may be printed and sent via US mail to the Jasper County Museum, or dropped off at the Museum during Museum open hours.
One entry per family/address. Entries must include contact information, including name, phone number, and mailing address. If uploading your entry, email <jasperhistory250@gmail.com> with your contact information and include your yogile login name.
You can submit photos as you go or all 10 at once. All entries must be received by July 1 at 9PM CST.
The Grand Prize winner will be drawn from all entries containing all 10 correct photos. If no entry has all 10 photos, the top 25 entries will be eligible for the Grand prize.
Grand Prize is a gift basket of Jasper County merchandise. Additional prizes will be awarded.
Drawing will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 3, 2026 at the Hal Gray Park (Corner of Susan St. and Van Rensselaer St) in Rensselaer. Winners need not be present to receive a prize. Winners will be notified and must pick up their prize at the museum no later than July 30, 2026.

You should receive a pop-up saying your photos were successfully uploaded.
You will not be able to see your photos in the Album until after the scavenger hunt closes. You do not have to upload your photos all at once. You can upload as you go, using the same login each time.
Email <jasperhistory250@gmail.com> and let them know you have completed your entry. Include your Yogile username in the email. This helps us review your entries and contact winners!

All decisions of the Jasper County Historical Society are final. Members of the Jasper County Historical Society Board and members of their household are not eligible for the Grand Prize.
