About Us

The Jasper County Historical Society was organized June 20, 1966. Its purpose is to collect and preserve records, diaries, letters, photographs, files, genealogical materials, artifacts, and any items of significance to the history of Jasper County and its citizens. The society strives to assist anyone who is interested in research of Jasper County history and make historical records and information available. It seeks to take action to preserve and commemorate historic sites and other points of interest so to foster regional pride.

School and youth groups may tour the historic sites preserved by the society by appointment. It is the society's aim to challenge and interest the youth to continue in the preservation of the county's history. Our meetings are open to all who are interested in learning about and preserving the history of Jasper County and we welcome volunteers to assist in preserving our history.
